I thought, as Nollie and Amy mentioned Tuesday night, that there was a lot of progress coming from everyone. I know I certainly felt more confident in my pieces (I don't think the fact that it was election day helped with everyone's weird moods, aka fabulous tap dancing). I know most of us struggled with memorization, but I think that is something that will come later. Our main priority should definitely be our technique and the quality of sound we are producing. Obviously, presentation is also something I know I need to work on (BUT I stand by my four-year-old honey boo boo moves...) I am looking forward to final juries!
I think everyone did very well, considering it was our first studio singing from memory! I wish I could say I also felt confident while singing, but not so the case haha. I'm sure by final juries most everyone will feel better prepared. I know I was tap dancing right along with a few others, and looked up from my feet maybe a total of two times. I guess I appeared miserable while singing?! Not the case, I love singing! I let my nerves get the best of me, so I am very excited for the future performance training :) I never know what to do with my hands or who to look at.
Oh my goodness! Not only did I forget about this response, but oh my goodness, that studio class was wonderful! I don't know if I was just extra wacky from being up since 3:30 and working the polls that day, but I was really impressed with everyone. It was interesting seeing the different teaching styles and techniques from Nollie and Amy! By this point, I had been doing a lot of singing and practicing and was pretty comfortable in my performance. It was nice to get to sing a musical theater piece for the group. I hope I get to do that for the finals, cough cough!
